Making sure but slow progress on the pages. I had a bit of time this morning to finish up the Restaurant Page. I learned a few new things working on this page. I learned about about Rene’ Amadry, a well known French Chef, being brought up from Chicago to run the restaurants at the Lawsonia Country, and loving the area so much that he married a local girl and lived here for many years. He worked at a couple of the local dining establishments and left his mark on Green Lake. A few of the local family’s ran most of the restaurants through the years. The Mockus’, Pecks and of course the Norton family.

Since we do not have many postcards showing the old high school building, I finished that page pretty quick. Two of the images that we have in our collection are group pictures. The first group picture there is not much information about the date or the people in the photo. The other image is an 8×10 photo of the 1937 Green Lake High School Band with all of the names of the musicians on the back. That is truly a treasure.
