Green Lake, Wis. – While going about his business of trapping mud puppies for sale to scientific laboratories, Eugene Mirr of Green Lake caught a rare albino specimen. Now living in a pail of water with an ordinary mud colored brother, the white puppy is attracting considerable attention.

Mirr says that the specimen is the first albino among 40,000 he has trapped in the last five years, He visits his traps in Green Lake three times a week during the winter and sells his catches to Art Steinhilber of Oshkosh for shipment to laboratories. According to Mirr, some people claim to have eaten mud puppies and found the meat firm and white – and tasty.
